The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences will be offering three free webinar courses centering around telehealth. ASHA CEUs will be offered, details can be found within each webinar page. Each session will be presented as live webinars. Our course offerings will include topics that span the basics of evidence-based and ethical adoption of telehealth by our professions, adaptations made in an academic clinic during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifics on implementation for a variety of populations and disorders (in pediatrics and adults), and tips to enhance sustainability beyond the pandemic.

Telehealth Basics and Purdue SLHS Clinics Adaptation during COVID-19

Date: October 29th 2020 / Time: 7pm EST

Description: This live event will cover the basics of telehealth including definitions, types of telehealth models and applications, legal considerations and privacy, safety, consenting, licensure, and the role of facilitators). The main adaptations our two large SLHS clinics (AuD and Speech) made during this time will also be discussed, as well as ways faculty and students adapted to this service delivery model. Then the discussion will focus on lessons learned (what worked, what didn't work) and on tips to enhance sustainability of telehealth/telepractice in our academic setting beyond the pandemic. A Q&A will follow.

Telehealth in Pediatric Populations during and beyond COVID-19: the Purdue SLHS perspective

Date: November 19th, 2020 / Time: 7pm EST

Description: This live event will cover the experiences of the speakers in adapting their practices to a telehealth model with pediatric populations. We will discuss the advantages and limitations of conducting pediatric speech and language screenings and treatment sessions, pediatric hearing screenings and evaluations, and pediatric feeding sessions via telehealth. A Q&A will follow.

Format: 30 min description; 30 min Q&A

Target audience: clinicians with varying levels of experience but interest in pediatric speech language pathology and audiology
