American Speech-Language-Hearing Multicultural Constituency Groups

In an effort to recruit and support students and professionals from diverse backgrounds, promote cultural competence, and contribute to advancing the field, Multicultural Constituency Groups were established and work with ASHA to improve the quality of services for all individuals. The ASHA site offers information on the Asian Indian Caucus (AIC), Asian Pacific Islander (API) Caucus, Haitian Caucus, Hispanic Caucus, L’GASP-GLBTQ Caucus, National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing (NBASLH), and the Native American Caucus.

ASHA S.T.E.P. Mentoring Program

The ASHA Student to Empowered Professional (S.T.E.P.) mentoring program allows students to connect with experienced professionals across the US to form relationships, obtain guidance as they navigate their education, and obtain helpful resources related to the profession. If you are interested in obtaining a mentor, consider signing up for the ASHA S.T.E.P program.

The Purdue Acceptance and Inclusion Consortium

The Purdue Acceptance and Inclusion Consortium is a multi-disciplinary team of scholars from various units within the College of Health and Human Sciences who are dedicated to advancing the science of inclusivity. Members of the consortium seek to serve as “honest brokers” to provide trusted evidence that can inform practices and policies to improve the well-being of all people. The Purdue Office of Graduate Diversity Initiatives offers various opportunities for students from underrepresented and/or diverse backgrounds seeking to further their education in various fields.
