Available Funding

AgSEED (Agricultural Research and Extension Leading to Economic Development) in Indiana Agriculture and Rural Communities

Supporting the University’s land grant mission, the AgSEED grant program was established by the Purdue University College of Agriculture to foster Indiana’s leadership in agriculture and rural growth through entrepreneurial initiatives. Approximately half of the funding must be used to focus on opportunities that strengthen Extension and applied research in the field or community. The application period has passed for the 2022-2023 granting period.

Clifford B. Kinley Trust

Exclusive to the West Lafayette campus, the Clifford B. Kinley Trust was established to fund research that uses a social science perspective to explore methods for improving the human condition. This funding is limited to faculty principal investigators. The application period has passed for the 2022-2023 granting period.

Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) 

A collaborative effort among Indiana University, Purdue University, the University of Notre Dame and other life sciences organizations and government and community groups, the Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute offers a variety of funding opportunities to advance health throughout the state.

Hatch, Animal Health, and McIntire-Stennis Research Projects

The Hatch, Animal Health and McIntire-Stennis research projects support research in agriculture, food, nutrition and related fields to support agricultural research programs at land grant universities across the nation. The application period has passed for the 2022-2023 granting period.

LASER PULSE Grand Research Challenges for Development 

Implemented by a consortium led by Purdue University, LASER PULSE (Long-Term Assistance and Services for Research Partners for University-Led Solutions Engine) is a five-year, $70 million program that aims to discover solutions to development challenges around the world.

MRI Pilot Grants

MRI Pilot Grants support faculty research by providing up to $3000 in funding to cover the cost of six hours of scanning time at the Purdue Life Sciences MRI Facility. Five hours of training and consultation with the MRI facility staff is also included. These grants operate on a rolling deadline. All proposal documents should be submitted as a single PDF to hhsadresearch@purdue.edu, and decisions will be made within two weeks of submission.

Ralph W. and Grace M. Showalter Research Trust

Limited to the West Lafayette campus, the Ralph W. and Grace M. Showalter Trust supports the following research topics:

  • Environmental issues, including air and water quality.
  • Biochemistry and molecular biology.
  • Disease prevention, diagnosis, progression, treatment and control.
  • New technologies for food production, preservation, distribution and safety.
  • Medical and biophysical instrumentation, including the analysis of large data sets.

Ross-Lynn Research Scholar Funds 

The Ross-Lynn Research Scholar Funds provide funding to support a half-time (0.50 FTE) graduate research assistant who will work on a research project. The research project must align with one or more of the HHS Signature Areas and must lead to the development of an external grant submission within 18 months. The application period has passed for the 2022-2023 granting period.
