  • 1908: First psych courses taught at Purdue (in new Department of Education)
  • 1916: George Clinton Brandenburg hired: first psychologist
  • 1923: Hiring of Hermann Henry Remmers -> prominence!
  • 1937: Psychology listed apart from Education
  • 1938: Foundation of I-O psychology
  • 1939: Initial organization of clinical psychology
  • 1939: 1st Purdue Ph.D. awarded in psychology
  • 1946: J.M. Hadley hired (eventually first DCT, second Department Head)
  • 1948: Clinical Program accredited (1st wave ever)
  • 1950: Undergraduate psych major formalized
  • 1954: Psychology as fully separate department in new school of Science, Education, & Humanities
  • 1954: B. Winer hired -> top-cited statistics expert
  • 1963: Psychology joined new school: HSSE
  • 1969: J. Hadley as Head (all degrees Purdue!)
  • 1975: Psych Sciences as 6th most research productive department in N. America & England
  • 1980: Psych Sciences Building completed
