Pre-medicine Nutrition Science Major

Purdue’s Nutrition Science major offers excellent preparation for students interested in pursuing careers in medicine and other health-related careers.  Our curriculum is designed to meet admission requirements for medical school and most professional health programs, including dental, physical therapy, physician assistant, accelerated nursing, optometry, veterinary, and public health, as well as most graduate school programs.

Pre-Medicine Curriculum

  •     Science/Nutrition base: nutrition, metabolism, biology, biochemistry, chemistry,
        organic chemistry, physics, anatomy and physiology
  •     Electives: sports nutrition, public heath, psychology, dietetics, food science,
        medical nutrition, nutrition careers, and more!

Career Plan B is built-in
: while a majority of our students enter pre-med or pre-professional programs post-graduation, the nutrition science offers plenty of “back up” post-graduate opportunities including jobs in the industry sector and entry into graduate school.

Students get one-on-one academic advising each semester, and pre-professional students meet with Pre-Professional Advising staff for assistance in applying to professional programs.
