Community Outreach

The Nutrition Science Department is dedicated to sharing what we discover and learn to improve lives in a diverse world. Working in conjunction with HHS Extension, Nutrition Science specialists in the department develop programs aimed at helping consumers better understand and evaluate nutrition and food safety information. Extension educators in Indiana's 92 counties are a vital link in the community for providing information and educational programming at the point-of-need to enhance lives, homes, and communities. The Community Health Engagement Program (CHEP) of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) aims to link the experience and skills of community leaders, health professionals, and university researchers to improve the health of Indiana citizens.

The Demonstration Kitchen provides an opportunity to deliver a variety of nutrition messages and information to a diverse audience.  The Nutrition Science Department offers multiple cooking demonstrations on a variety of topics intended to reach members of the local community as well as Purdue students, staff and faculty.
