Feeds on microscopic plants and animal life

 

Habitat:

Prefers lakes and sluggish rivers

 

Length:

Average length is 10.5 to 14 inches

 

Identification:

Bright silvery blue on back, silvery sides and dusky white belly; deep oblong body that is laterally compressed
