Dr. Spoerner coordinates the Accelerated Second Degree and Co-Op nursing programs. She is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with more than thirty years of experience working with children and families. Her clinical experience spans pediatric cardiology, genetics, anesthesia, acute and primary care. She teaches pediatric nursing in the undergraduate and graduate programs and actively mentors students. She has served as an expert reviewer for numerous textbooks and presented at national and international meetings.

Dr. Spoerner serves on the taskforce for Prevention of Overdoses and Treatment Errors in Children (PROTECT) at the Centers for Disease Control and co-chairs the national special interest group: Injury, Education and Prevention for the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She is actively involved with the Indiana State Nurses Association, serving on the Political Action Committee and is the President of the Delta Omicron chapter of Sigma Theta Tau.
