Biography

Dr. Ding is an assistant professor at the School of Nursing, College of Health and Human Science, and a faculty associate at the Center on Aging and the Life Course. Her primary areas of research relate to patient-centered outcomes improvement for individuals with cardiovascular disease (CVD). Dr. Ding’s current research interests include tackling self-care issues of adults with both heart failure and diabetes; using big data and computer algorithms to identify individuals at high risk for CVD and diabetes; and clinical interventions that improve patient-centered care and outcomes. She also has past research interests in sleep disorders and symptom management in adults with CVD and stroke; CVD health disparities between men and women, and between rural and urban areas.

Dr. Ding currently teaches graduate courses in the areas of Acute and Chronic Illnesses, Gerontology, and Managing Sleep Problems in Primary Care. She is involved with the Data Mine Living Learning Community at Purdue and works with faculty colleagues to provide undergraduate nursing students research experiences related to data science and data-driven applications. She also is a post-doctoral clinical research fellow at Cleveland Clinic, OH, and receives active clinical research mentorship in cardiology and endocrinology.
