Life Inspired Week 2023
The College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) will celebrate its annual Life Inspired Week from Friday, March 24, through Friday, March 31. The week is designed to showcase some of the many ways the college is transforming lives and communities. A variety of events are being planned, including the annual Black Tie Dinner, developed and implemented entirely by student volunteers from the White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management; a campus walk through the Department of Health and Kinesiology’s Exercise is Medicine on Campus initiative; a lunch-and-learn presentation by faculty from the School of Nursing and Department of Nutrition Science; a three-minute thesis competition featuring HHS graduate students; and much more. HTM Society Black Tie Dinner Sold Out

Planned and executed by members of the student organization HTM Society, the annual Black Tie Dinner offers a unique evening of synchronized service, gourmet dining and other hospitality industry arts. Lifelong Learning: Life Lessons from a Blue Zone

Did you know there are areas around the world known as “Blue Zones” where large numbers of the population routinely live to be 100 years old? One of those regions is Ikaria, Greece. Learn what students and representatives from the School of Nursing and Health and Human Sciences Extension discovered about life in a Blue Zone when they traveled to Ikaria to uncover secrets to a long and healthy life.

Relax and Recharge with HHS Connex

Members of the HHS Undergraduate DEI Committee invite all HHS students to a fun and informative HHS Connex event focused on mental and physical well-being. Enjoy hands-on activities including meditation, yoga and origami. Take home a houseplant from the plant potting station, enjoy healthy snacks, unwind with other HHS students, and more.
Representatives from the Co-Rec’s wellness programs; Purdue cultural centers; CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services); and CARE (Center for Advocacy, Response and Education), which offers free and confidential advocacy services to students who have experienced interpersonal violence, will be on hand to share information about their services. The Department of Health and Kinesiology and select HHS student groups will also be present.
Open to all HHS students.

Have you ever wondered when is the best time to eat and exercise each day? College of Health and Human Sciences researchers Heather Eicher-Miller, associate professor in the Department of Nutrition Science, and Libby Richards, associate professor in the School of Nursing, will discuss their recently published findings on temporal nutrition intake as well as when and how hard to exercise in a 24-hour span.
Open to the public.
