Tell us about yourself:

During my undergraduate education, I aided a research team led by Dr. Yumary Ruiz which ultimately led me to apply for the MPH program at Purdue. I am currently a Direct Support Professional at Community Ventures in Living, LLC. I work with developmentally disabled individuals, and their families, throughout the Greater Lafayette Area with the mission of helping my clients experience the good things in life. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, camping, and kayaking with friends, old and new!

Your education:

I graduated from Purdue University in December of 2016 with my Bachelors in Public Health.

Your vision:

I chose the MPH program because of the versatility. Public Health is a growing field with a variety of focus areas. It has a strong promise for future employment in meaningful roles, especially in community-based care. Studying public health was the best fit for me because of the population-level focus. With time and money as the largest constraints, it makes sense to target as many people as we can to illicit change in health outcomes.

Why Purdue:

Purdue offered me an undergraduate degree with rigorous courses at an affordable price. I could not think of continuing my education at any other university. Purdue is one of the top public universities in the nation with increasing standards of acceptance.

Your goals on the first year of the program:

I am looking forward to collaborating with students in the program and making long-lasting connections!
