Early childhood development, training child care providers, parenting education, preschool curriculum, development in literacy and math, marriage and relationships, family systems – especially the family life cycle stages

A new interest area that I want to explore is aging and end of life decisions.


Barbara Beaulieu is the Human Development Specialist with Purdue Extension in the College of Health and Human Sciences. As a member of the HDFS Department, she works with faculty to conduct research that generates new knowledge or supports the development of new Extension programs and resources. Barb provides leadership and guides the delivery of a variety of statewide programs, in collaboration with Extension educators, including Co-Parenting for Success Kids, I am Moving I am Learning, Block Party, and Strengthening Families Program: For Parents and Youth 10-14. She currently serves on several multi-state teams, including the North Central Region Aging Network, and the national Extension Just in Time Parenting committee.

Barbara has been recognized for her leadership in Purdue Extension by receiving the 2017 Outstanding Extension Faculty/Specialist Award, and first and third place regional and national awards for multi-state collaboration from the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences, along with other awards. She served as chair of the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Specialists Association (PUCESA) from 2017-2018. Barb was selected to represent Purdue Extension for the Class of 2017 National Extension Leadership Development program.
