Dr. Elyssa A. Geer is interested in understanding the factors related to the development of spatial cognition. Specifically, her research focuses on the co-development of spatial and math skills over time with particular focus on factors that may impact this relation such as cognitive anxieties (i.e., math and spatial anxiety), gender differences, executive function, and other cognitive/environmental factors. Elyssa is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Purdue University in the Human Development and Family Studies department working alongside Dr. Sara Schmitt on studies examining the effects of classroom-based interventions that are designed to improve math skills (i.e., geometry knowledge), executive function, and other cognitive skills.
