Brittany Mihalec-Adkins

Fall 2016

Research Interests

Broadly, I am interested in the experiences of children and families involved with the child welfare system – both during and after their involvement. More specifically, I am interested in understanding the influences on parental engagement in child protection interventions; issues of stigma and parental identity among parents in the child welfare system; the short- and long-term consequences of separation via foster placement (for both children and parents); and the educational consequences of maltreatment and foster placement. I am also interested in using mixed-methods research designs to address these topics.
