The Burkhart Award for Excellence in Research about Families is given to a researcher from Purdue University for outstanding research which serves to strengthen the capacity of families to provide a nurturing environment for their members.
Published research from any discipline, department or college is eligible for this award, and nominations (including self-nominations) from a wide variety of disciplines are encouraged to submit for consideration. Articles must have been published in 2017, in a peer-reviewed journal and must be empirical (both qualitative and quantitative methods are welcome, but narrative literature reviews are not eligible). All nominated articles will be evaluated by a panel of reviewers from the Center for Families including faculty partners and advisory council members. The winning author will also be awarded $500.
2018 nominations should be submitted to the award chair, Associate Professor Karen Foli, Nursing, College of Health and Human Sciences, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To be considered for the award, nominations need to include
• A cover letter indicating support for a given article as outstanding family research
• An electronic copy of the nominated article
• Contact information for the nominator and the lead author for the article.
All nominations are due December 4, 2017.
