Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Student Development funding Opportunity

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support participation in trainings, workshops and other learning opportunities that contribute to College of Health and Human Science (HHS) students’ development of knowledge and ability to foster and champion diversity, equity and inclusion in their social, academic, or work environments. 

  • Applications will be considered from the beginning of the academic year to the beginning of the next academic year and may be submitted at any time.

HHS Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award

HHS Outstanding Doctoral Student Award

The Health and Human Sciences Outstanding Doctoral Graduate Student Award was developed to annually recognize the outstanding Ph.D. student within the College based on research excellence.  An annual award of $1000 will be presented to a student who has exhibited outstanding ability in scholarly activities, service to his/her department and to the College, and promise for a productive career in his/her field.

HHS Outstanding Masters Student Award

The Health and Human Sciences Outstanding Masters Graduate Student Award was developed to annually recognize the outstanding Masters student within the College based on research excellence. An annual award of $500 will be presented to a student who has exhibited outstanding ability in scholarly activities, service to his/her department and to the College, and promise for a productive career in his/her field.

Teaching Academy Graduate Teaching Award 

The Graduate Teaching Award is sponsored by the Teaching Academy and the Office of the Provost. The selection process occurs at the departmental level. Departments may select one recipient for every 50 graduate teaching assistants they support. The allowed awardees will be provided in the spring semester, with a nomination date around March.

  1. The name(s) of the student(s) as they wish them to appear on the award, together with their contact information (campus address, phone number, and email address);
  2. Contact information for their major professor and/or mentor (campus address, and email address).

Compton Graduate Student Research Travel Award

The purpose of this award is to support graduate students from the College of Health and Human Science who are selected to present research findings in a poster or oral format at a regional, national, or international conference. Alternatively, this award can be used by graduate students who want to attend training in research methods beyond the courses offered at Purdue University that will enhance their dissertation research or want to attend a workshop/conference focused on professional development. The award is in honor of Dr. Norma Compton’s 14 year service as the Dean of the School of Consumer and Family Science. The goals of this award are to promote the dissemination of the graduate student’s research and for improvement of their communication skills. The Compton Graduate Travel award is open to Masters or Doctorate level HHS graduate students involved in research under the guidance of faculty in the college of Health and Human Sciences. Each recipient will receive an award to cover up to $500 of travel expenses.

  • Applications will be considered from the beginning of the academic year to the beginning of the next academic year.  Please contact your unit/department Graduate Program Director about the process.
