Amr graduated from Purdue with a PhD in Computer Science. During Amr's time at Purdue, he worked on data cleaning; how to tackle data quality problems such as removing duplicates; resolving data violations to satisfy consistency constraints; and handling incomplete data or missing information.

Why did you choose Purdue?

The decision came down to two main factors: the affordability to live and support my family in West Lafayette and the large Egyptian and Muslim communities that proved helpful on many occasions.

Career goal?

I would like to join Facebook as a software engineer.

Favorite fact about Purdue?

If you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes.

Two words that best describe your work?

Challenging and Significant

If you have free time, how do you choose to spend it?

Watching a movie or playing video games.

What’s your best time-saving shortcut or life hack?

I always write down my ToDos, however trivial or small they might be. This helps me easily remember them and keep on schedule.

What are you currently reading, or what is the last thing you read (aside from academic reading)?

An Arabic book about characteristics of tyranny.

How do you recharge physically and/or mentally?

Play soccer or travel some place new.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

My father has always told me that it doesn't matter what you do, or what people think about it, but you have to be unique and distinguished in it.
