Dr. Mason has established an internationally recognized integrated pest management program in stored products entomology providing industry with innovative alternative storage programs. She is a consultant for many of the largest food producers and retailers.

Dr. Mason's program has built a reputation for researching new technologies, and working with industry to adopt alternative strategies. She recently completed a major study comparing the current fumigation standard, methyl bromide to its replacement, sulfuryl fluoride. The grain chilling technology her team developed and transferred during the 1990s is now used by many large food processing facilities and is the standard comparison treatment for new technologies currently under development.

She is currently doing research on ozone control technology in a similar manner. Dr. Mason joined the Department of Entomology at Purdue in 1991. In the summer of 2010, Dr. Mason joined the Graduate School Administration as an Associate Dean with responsibilities including responsible conduct of research (RCR), Fellowships, and Professional Development of Graduate Students and Post-Docs. She is currently serving as the Dean of the Graduate School.
