Athena Kennedy

Dr. Athena Kennedy earned a B.A. in Communication and a B.A. in Spanish, an M.A. in Communication, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration with an online education administration focus from the University of Wyoming. Her passion for online education, instructional design, technology and teaching, learning, and research is exemplified in her professional experience.

Dr. Kennedy currently serves as the Online Program Launch Director for Purdue Online and she previously served as the Manager of Instructional Design Initiatives at ASU Online - EdPlus. At EdPlus she led an instructional design team for Continuing and Professional Education, and was an instructional design liaison for the international PLuS Alliance, as well as the Academic Integrity Officer for ASU Online. Dr. Kennedy has served as an online instructor, a project director, instructional technologist, researcher, and student services professional in higher education for nearly two decades at universities including the University of Wyoming, California State University San Bernardino - Palm Desert Campus, Colorado State University - Fort Collins, and Arizona State University. She has taught college courses in technical writing and digital media, communication, marketing, instructional design and higher education, GRE test preparation, the first-year experience for college students, and indoor cycling. Additionally, Dr. Kennedy has corporate experience where she served as a pharmaceutical sales representative at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and United Chemicals of Belgium (UCB).

Dr. Kennedy enjoys learning about educational technologies, teaching courses, taking courses, and assisting individuals in achieving their goals. She is trained in life and success coaching and advising. She is also a nutrition researcher and a fitness instructor. She enjoys running, weight-lifting, step aerobics, and indoor cycling, as well as all types of art, theatre, music and interior design.
