My Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering is from Carnegie Mellon University and I earned both my M.S. and B.S. in Power Engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics in China. I served as a Foundation Trustee of the Association of Iron and Steel Industry (AIST) from 2011-2017 and am currently a member of the AIST Midwest Chapter’s Executive Board. From 2009-2012, I was the associate editor of the Journal of Thermal Science and Engineering Applications and in 2018 I was invited to be the guest editor for a special issue entitled “Steel Manufacturing Simulation and Visualization” for the Journal of Steel Research International. I was especially honored to have received the Gerald I. Lamkin Fellow Award for Innovation & Service from The Society of Innovators in 2017 and that same year I was also named one of PNW’s Outstanding Faculty (Engagement). My current research is focused on computational fluid dynamics (CFD); multiphase reacting flow simulation; combustion; energy; air pollution control; vitality visualization; and virtual training.
