Prof. Morgan obtained his Ph.D. from Rice University where he studied producing anti-cancer drugs in plant tissue culture. He then did his postdoctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied biocatalysts in organic solvents. He is currently a Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering. Prof. Morgan’s research program focuses on the production of valuable compounds in photosynthetic organisms and understanding metabolic pathways for diagnosis and treatment of diseases. He is a NSF CAREER award recipient, a University Faculty Scholar, and a fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. He has served Division 15 of A.I.Ch.E. as programming chair twice, and as the long range programming coordinator for the past four years. Additionally, Dr. Morgan serves on several editorial boards.
