SROP provides you with round-trip transportation and University housing on campus at Hilltop for the duration of the program. The Hilltop Apartments, large enough to hold two scholars, are equipped with small kitchenettes so you can prepare meals while on campus.
You’ll receive a generous stipend to aid in expenses for the duration of the program. You’ll be required to work 40 hours a week on your research project, which will be supervised by faculty members and/or their research team(s). You’ll be assigned to a graduate student coordinator who will work closely with you to ensure you have a productive research experience while at Purdue.
Prior to presenting the final research projects, you’ll have opportunities to practice your presentation skills with the coordinator and peers. You’ll also be required to attend meetings held in the evenings. These meetings will include workshops on professional development, preparing for poster and oral presentations, and information on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). You’ll also participate in journal and book club meetings where group discussions are encouraged.Campus libraries, computers, research labs and the health center will be available during your stay. Participation in all planned social activities is encouraged as it is a way to increase peer networks and broaden multicultural awareness.
