The Office of Graduate Diversity Initiatives (OGDI) is dedicated to recruitment and retention while maintaining excellence for our underrepresented minorities pursuing graduate study and research careers. The OGDI is involved with several programs, including the Graduate Diversity Visitation program, Summer Research Opportunities Program, and Bridge Program, but the most relevant for new graduate students is the Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP). AGEP is designed to support women and underrepresented graduate students during their academic careers and provide resources that help them successfully enter the professoriate. The AGEP program has helped 130 Purdue students since it started in 2010. This program addresses the needs and concerns of graduate students to achieve excellence in higher learning and graduate research. In addition to providing a scholarship, the program helps provide a community for AGEP Scholars and offers personal and professional development workshops, mentoring, and outreach activities to help prepare scholars beyond graduate school. We invite you to explore our AGEP program and learn how it attributes to a successful entry into the professoriate.

Greater Lafayette Community

Celery Bog Nature Area

This 195-acre Nature Area is less than 2 miles north of campus and easily reached by car, bicycle, or city bus.  It is located at 1620 Lindberg Rd.  To get there, turn left at the second stoplight past Mackey Arena and it will be on your right just past the bridge.  There is no admission charge and it is open from dawn to dusk every day.  The property includes 2.5 miles of mulched trails through the woods and prairie, as well as over a mile of paved trails that connects to the Purdue Campus.  You may bike on the paved trail but bicycles are not allowed on the mulched trails.

Thousands of wildflowers are in bloom through the growing seasons which makes for a relaxing and enjoyable visit.  Students come here to walk or run the trails, study, or just unwind.  You or a group of people may want to volunteer to spread wood chips on the trails.
