The Office of Graduate Diversity Initiatives (OGDI) is dedicated to recruitment and retention, while maintaining excellence for our underrepresented minorities pursuing graduate study and research careers. The OGDI is involved with several programs, including the Graduate Diversity Visitation program, Summer Research Opportunities Program, and Bridge Program, but the most relevant for new graduate students is the Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP). AGEP is designed to support women and underrepresented graduate students to thrive during their academic career and provide resources that help them successfully enter the professoriate. The AGEP program has helped 130 Purdue students since it started in 2010. This program addresses the needs and concerns of graduate students to achieve excellence in higher learning and graduate research. In addition to providing a scholarship, the program helps provide a community for AGEP Scholars, and offers personal and professional development workshops, mentoring, and outreach activities to help prepare scholars beyond graduate school. We invite you to explore our AGEP program and learn how it attributes to a successful entry into the professoriate.
