The Office of Future Engineers uses WebEx for our Livestream Q&A Broadcasts from Purdue in Indianapolis. This section will provide you with information and steps for joining our events on WebEx.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finding the link to join the event<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after registering for one of our live events, you will receive an email from the Office of Future Engineers confirming the date and time of the event, as well as the link to join the live event. If you are having difficulty finding the email, search for emails from ‘future-engineers-indy@purdue.edu’ and check your Spam folder. If you are still unable to find your registration confirmation email, send us an email at\u00a0future-engineers-indy@purdue.edu<\/a>\u00a0for assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining the event<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In your email, there will be a link to click to join our live event. This link will take you to a landing page that will redirect to our live event platform a few minutes before the event begins.

You have three options for joining our virtual events: joining via your computer browser, through WebEx computer app, or through the WebEx smartphone app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the best experience, we recommend joining from a desktop or laptop computer when possible. Doing so will allow you to join without the need to install any apps or extensions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Option 1: Joining from a desktop\/laptop browser with no software or plug-ins<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t

Step 1: Click on the event link in your event confirmation or reminder email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: On the window that opens, there will appear two boxes. Click on the right box that says “Join from your browser”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3: Type in your name and email address, then click on Next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4: If your browser asks for permission to access your microphone, you\u00a0need<\/strong>\u00a0to allow it in order to hear the presenters.\u00a0Your microphone will not be activated, as attendee microphones AND video are disabled for the event.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n

Step 2: On the window that opens, click “Open” on the dialog box that pops up asking to open WebEx.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3: If you are already signed into the WebEx app, you should automatically join the event. If you are not yet signed in, you will be asked to provide your name and email address to join.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n

Can’t Hear Any Audio?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

WebEx might need microphone permission in order to enable presenter audio. Rest assured, your microphone will not be activated at any point during our event<\/strong>, and having a microphone is not required to join. The permission is sometimes required due to the way the app handles audio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look for a camera icon at the left or right side of the URL bar at the top of your browser.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click on that icon and ensure that permissions are allowed for purdue-edu.zoom.us\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Double-Check Device Settings in Zoom<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Ensure that you have the correct speaker device selected in Zoom. If you are in the process of joining the event, click on “Test speaker and microphone”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have already joined the event, click on the down arrow next to the Unmute button near the bottom-middle of your screen and select the correct speaker device.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n
