Co-Ops and Internships

Co-op and Internships: Getting ready for the future

The Purdue College of Engineering's Professional Practice Program strives to be a national leader in supplying traditional work-integrated learning experiences for students within their chosen fields. The aim of the program is to meet varying individual student needs with equally varying practical learning opportunities. Some of these programs are based on traditional Co-op experiences, and some are internships.

Do you have Co-Op or internship opportunities with industry while at Purdue?

The majority of engineering students choose to participate in internships, usually done in the summer. Students may complete one or more internships with a variety of companies.

Purdue has a very extensive Co-Op program through the Professional Practice Program offering three or five-term professional development programs. Students can graduate with close to two years of engineering work experience with one company.

Both the Professional Practice Program and internships are valuable "paid" industry experiences available to Purdue engineering students beginning as early as after their first year.
