Pursuing My Passions at Purdue

Purdue senior Alyssa Zielinski understands that sometimes the path to an end goal is not always a straight line. After completing the First year Engineering Program, Alyssa chose to study Mechanical Engineering, but soon realized that was not the right fit for her. Stepping back to re-evaluate her skills, talents, and passions, Alyssa found that her skill set and interests align well with those of an Industrial Engineer. She switched her major to Industrial Engineering and hasn't looked back since.

Although Alyssa is looking into grad school and industry options, she states "Ultimately, my ideal job is to become a STEM high school teacher." Although Industrial Engineering does not lead directly to education, she has found a way to use her degree in the education system. Alyssa has found the value of pursuing passions and following her strengths and talents which has sometimes meant having to forge a path of her own.
