​If you are contemplating planting some trees or shrubs for conservation purposes this spring, it is not too late to order seedlings from the Indiana Division of Forestry State Nursery system. The state nursery system provides many species of trees and shrubs that are suitable for conservation planting purposes like windbreaks, shelterbelts, reforestation and wildlife habitat plantings. Seedlings must be planted in Indiana. Although some species are sold out at this time, many species of trees and shrubs are still available. Several private nurseries in Indiana and the Midwest offer a wide variety of tree and shrub seedlings for sale. The U.S. Forest Service and Southern Regional Extension Forestry maintain a website where you can search for nurseries that provide conservation seedling stock in your area.
