Why Extension?

Tell us about your background?
I am originally from northeast Indiana, just south of Fort Wayne and grew up on a small cattle farm where I spent all of my time outside. I have a BLA in Landscape Architecture and a BA in Natural Resources and Environmental Management and I am pursuing an MS in Geography and an MS in Natural Resources and Environmental Management from Ball State. I’ve been in Delaware County since 2011 and with Purdue Extension since 2018.
How did you come to work with Nature of Teaching?

The Nature of Teaching is one of the first ANR signature programs that I assisted with delivering and I fell in love with it.  When the opportunity arose to be a part of the team and the Program Coordinator I was incredibly honored and excited to join!

How did you get involved with FNR Extension and outreach?
With my background and interests, it was a natural fit to deliver and support natural resources programming and I naturally gravitated towards those teams and opportunities.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy connecting people to the great outdoors. Every day is a little bit different, but I enjoy sharing my passion for nature with others to promote environmental education and stewardship of the land.
What is the biggest challenge you face in your job?
I think the biggest challenge is every day is new and different. You can rarely apply the same practices directly to more than one situation. This is exciting in its own way, but also keeps me on my toes!
Do you have an outside hobby?
I enjoy camping, and hiking with my fiancé and dogs- anything to get outside!
