FAQ’s about Probation and Laying Tracks

Directions for completing Laying Tracks:

Please thoroughly read all e-mails regarding your academic standing from the university and from your academic advisor. You will receive e-mails from your advisor with information that is specific to your situation, so be sure to follow any directions in those e-mails closely.

  • Next, in an e-mail from your advisor, you were instructed to complete the Probation Survey as soon as possible. Ideally, you should have this short survey completed by 5:00pm on Monday May 24th, 2019, but it is OK to complete it any time after this date.  There is no need to print this survey as your advisor will receive an electronic copy.
  • Your advisor will also give you instructions via e-mail about which of the Laying Tracks steps below you should complete on your own. It may be some of the steps; it may be all of them. This is up to your advisor so be sure to read your e-mails carefully.
  • Finally, you will be asked to set up an hour-long Laying Tracks (Probation Status) appointment with your advisor using our BoilerConnect online calendar or by calling (765) 494-0843.  This appointment must occur within the first two weeks of the Fall Semester.  This means you need to see your advisor BEFORE 5 pm on Friday 8/30.  You will receive an email reminder in late July to go ahead and set this appointment.  We want to make absolutely sure you come see us early in the Fall Semester so we can help you make plans for a successful semester!

We think that Laying Tracks is so important that we will hold your next semester’s registration PIN until you've finished the exercises and met with your academic advisor. But we know that you're so motivated to improve that we'll see you all before Friday, August 30th!
