003739-2017 - Assistant/Associate Professor (AET) 

Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, is accepting applications for multiple tenure-track positions beginning in Fall 2018.  These faculty appointments are in the School of Aviation & Transportation Technology, the Purdue Polytechnic Institute. 

DESCRIPTION:  Job duties include: (1) Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in aviation technology; (2) Collaborate with other academic units at Purdue, and other organizations externally, to engage with community, government and industry to obtain externally-funded applied research in the areas of teaching, discovery, and engagement; (3) Serve on graduate committees; (4) Perform faculty assignments and student mentoring; (5) Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and transformational education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Ph.D. or earned doctorate at time of hire, or completed within one year of hire in aviation & transportation technology or related field. Applicants must possess FAA certificates related to CFR Part 147 for Aeronautical Engineering Technology. For Professional Flight Technology the candidate must have an FAA commercial pilot certificate, and must be eligible to obtain additional flight ratings. Applicants for UAS must be eligible to obtain the CFR Part 107 certificate. Applicants for the Aviation Management position must have expertise necessary to perform assigned duties in areas related to, airline finance, business management, asset management, security, infrastructure, or operations. Candidates for all positions must provide history of academic teaching, curriculum development, scholarly publications, or conference presentations.

GENERAL INFORMATION:  Purdue University is a land-grant university dedicated to learning, discovery, and engagement.  The School of Aviation and Transportation Technology is home to seven undergraduate majors, including Professional Flight Technology, Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering Technology, Unmanned Aerial Systems, and Aerospace Financial Analysis, all leading to a B.S. degree. Students may also pursue M.S., M.S. online, and Ph.D. degrees.  The Professional Flight, Aviation Management, and Aeronautical Engineering Technology programs are professionally accredited, and are nationally recognized for educating graduates who become successful leaders in a wide variety of aviation, aerospace, and space careers.  A balance of hands-on teaching, scholarship, and funded engagement is the key to this success, and the successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the ability to make effectual and noteworthy contributions to the discipline in each of these three success areas.
