Postdoctoral Fellowships, Purdue University Honors College

The Honors College at Purdue University seeks three postdoctoral fellows for two-year appointments in the Honors College, an academic, residential college for high-achieving undergraduate students that offers interdisciplinary coursework and programming in a vibrant intellectual setting.  We enroll 2500 students, who come from every discipline on Purdue’s West Lafayette, IN, campus. Our available positions are:

1)      Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship, Open Specialty

Candidates must demonstrate both interdisciplinary range and excellence in teaching, honors teaching preferred.  Ph.D. required in any field, with special interest in candidates from STEM fields with the ability to engage the arts and humanities, or vice versa.  2-2 teaching load. Duties include:  teaching in the first-year honors course series; designing new seminars; and working with the Honors College staff to develop and support residential programming. Applicants should demonstrate openness to teaching from a variety of approaches and interest in working with a diverse student population.

2)      Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, International Studies—joint with International Programs

Specialty open; Ph.D. in any field is required, as is demonstrated study abroad experience and/or experience implementing intercultural learning initiatives in any setting. 1-1 teaching load plus strong emphasis on program development.  Duties include:  teaching in the first-year honors course series; working with staff in International Programs and in the Honors College to develop and support international opportunities for high-ability undergraduates, including overseas study/research options and the infusion of intercultural learning outcomes into honors courses. 

3)      Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, Innovation Studies—joint with Purdue Polytechnic Institute

Specialty open; Ph.D. in any field is required, as is demonstrated interest in higher education research. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in innovation sciences or studies, technologies, transdisciplinary studies, higher education, and/or organizational studies. 1-1 teaching load plus strong emphasis on program development. Duties include:  teaching 1 honors course per semester; working with staff and faculty in the Honors College and Polytechnic Institute to develop new cross-campus initiatives that foster creative, transdisciplinary learning.

These full-time positions begin August 2018; the “innovation studies” position could begin as early as January 2018. The nine-month salary will be based on education and experience. Benefits are included.
