Purdue University seeks nominations and applications for The School of Nursing Head.  The School of Nursing at Purdue University has been a leader in innovative nursing education for over fifty years by graduating nurses who are prepared to deliver outstanding care and lead systematic change.  We prepare future nurses through impactful research, excellence in education, and engagement with the local community.

As the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Nursing, The School Head’s primary role is to provide vision, leadership, and to foster a culture that promotes academic excellence, inclusiveness, collaboration and respect.  Reporting directly to the Dean of Health and Human Sciences, the School Head will lead efforts in strategic planning, budgeting, enhancement initiatives, accreditation and professional standards, assuring external funding to support growth of the School, and faculty development. The Head also holds the title of Associate Dean, Health and Human Sciences.

Purdue Nursing takes a transdisciplinary approach to research, leveraging the expertise of outstanding researchers in the School of Nursing and across the College of Health and Human Sciences and university campus as we address challenges in health and healthcare.  In our commitment to excellence in education, we are in the process of expanding our academic programs by: (1) doubling the undergraduate program - a 4-year process that began in fall 2016; (2) launching a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track and certificate beginning summer of 2018; (3) creating a 3-year direct path from BS to DNP beginning in fall 2017; and (4) launching a PhD program in 2017.  Purdue Nursing’s engagement and partnership with the North Central Nursing Clinics, a nurse-led community health center with four sites in contiguous counties provides primary care in medically underserved areas and supports education of nurses and nurse practitioners in rural settings. Our campus-based Nursing Center for Family Health leads an interprofessional team to address wellness and health promotion.
