Assistant professor, tenure-track faculty position in Learning Design and Technology

Position Description 

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction seeks an experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic faculty member with a proven scholarly record to join a multi-talented group of faculty who strive to function as a true research community. This is an academic year position with the possibility for summer employment. Position responsibilities include:

  • Teach online and face-to-face graduate and undergraduate courses in learning design and technology;
  • Design, develop, implement, and supervise courses in learning design and technology;
  • Maintain and build on an established research agenda as evidenced by refereed publications and grant support;
  • Demonstrate desire and ability to engage in cross-disciplinary collaborations within the college, across campus, and at state, national, and international levels;
  • Recruit, advise, and mentor Masters and Doctoral students.

Qualifications

Earned doctorate in educational technology, instructional design or closely related field.  Established record of scholarship and funding in areas related to learning design and technology. Record of excellence in teaching; experience teaching online is preferred but not required. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or engagement. Three years experience as a faculty member at the university level is preferred.

Learning Design andTechnology Program

The interdisciplinary program at Purdue has been identified as a signature area in the College of Education.  The program provides coursework for undergraduate pre-service teachers as well as masters and doctoral graduate programs for in-service teachers, individuals interested in higher education, and trainers/instructional designers in business, industry, government, and the non-profit sector. As part of its mission, the LDT program offers a fully online master’s program, with current enrollments of approximately 230 students.
