Our Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation ambassadors share our mission of student success and mentoring. Ambassadors from a wide variety of academic majors talk to prospective students and families at Purdue recruiting events, present their experiences to classes and represent the program at events on and off campus.
The entrepreneurship certificate adds a unique dynamic to my major of speech, language, and hearing sciences. Having experience in entrepreneurship differentiates me when applying for graduate schools to become a speech therapist, but more importantly the certificate teaches me essential skills in how to market myself and my talents in preparation for the workforce.
Our world is constantly being shaped by innovation. The certificate classes have helped me think strategically about my future and how I can make an impact on the world through entrepreneurship and innovation.
I love how this program provides students with the opportunity to add on an entrepreneurship supplement to their majors. By pursuing this certificate, I’ve had the chance to meet and collaborate with students from diverse backgrounds and learn the various components of ideation, finance and marketing to bring our innovative ideas into fruition. It has undoubtedly been a valuable experience to my business major and career!
Partnering the certificate in entrepreneurship with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering has influenced me to pursue involvement with start-up companies and eventually my own company. I was able to apply and develop many skills learned at a start-up company in the healthcare industry, and have realized the certificate has given me the resources to start my own venture.
The Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation has done more for my growth academically, socially, as well as my own personal growth than I ever could have imagined. I will be graduating with a dual degree in Management and Accounting and I will begin my career at a CPA firm. What the certificate has allowed me is indescribable, I am a very creative person and the certificate has allowed my creativity to flourish, I have gained friendships that last a lifetime, and professors that have helped me see my full potential.
As a pharmacy student, the opportunity to participate in the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation has completely changed my career trajectory. I’ve been fortunate enough to take multiple ENTR courses that gave me the skills and confidence to compete in various entrepreneurial competitions, earn diverse internships in clinical and industrial pharmacy, and lay the foundation for starting my own business.
The certificate program has provided me with a core understanding of what it takes to start a business. Not only do you learn the curriculum, but you also get several opportunities to exercise your entrepreneurial skillset.
The certificate program has been an enriching experience and allowed me to expand my understanding of business. I have learned about starting and running a business from instructors who all have experiences of their own. In addition, what I value most are the opportunities it has given me to work with interdisciplinary teams, these teams emulate what the real workforce is like and teaches you how to communicate with others who have different ways of processing information. Regardless of where my career takes me, the lessons in communication and entrepreneurship I learned through this program will always be applicable.
The certificate program has been instrumental in rounding me out as a professional. There are few programs that have so frequently and so effectively taught me to think, act and influence with an innovative mindset. It’s clear that the experiences and credibility I’ve gained from this program have set me apart in the job market as well as prepared me to more readily pursue a business venture of my own.
The entrepreneurship program has helped me realize how to make ideas happen. The core curriculum has helped me understand how to take my ideas and build real, practical businesses, whilst imbibing in me critical business ethics and ideologies.

What I like most about the entrepreneurship program is the people. Whether it be the students or the instructors, you are surrounded by ambitious people who are going to, or already have done, great things.
As a communications student, the entrepreneurship certificate has enhanced my public relations degree in many ways. I believe the entrepreneurship classes are some of the best at Purdue, allowing students to grow and develop skills that will compliment any major. Being able to work with students from different backgrounds and majors has allowed me to learn in a new and different way that would not have been possible without the certificate program. I now have a better understanding of a business from the ground up and the skills to make it happen.
