Due to ongoing and widespread concerns, it has been decided to cancel the statewide tornado drill that was set for Wednesday morning, March 18. This is still a good time to review your severe weather safety plan!\u00a0www.ready.gov\/plan<\/a>\u00a0#inwx<\/a>\u00a0#SvrWxPrepWeek<\/a><\/strong><\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n The National Weather Service, in conjunction with the Indiana State Police<\/a>, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security<\/a>, the Indiana Department of Education<\/a>, the Indiana Broadcasters Association<\/a>, the American Red Cross<\/a>, and Amateur Radio Operators<\/a> will conduct a statewide test of communication systems on Wednesday, March 18 at 10:15 AM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Important<\/strong> – while the drill will be sent using live TOR EAS coding (Tornado Warning), it is only a test<\/strong>, and will be postponed to Thursday, March 19 if weather conditions warrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As part of NWS efforts to build a Weather Ready Nation<\/a>, the goal of Severe Weather Preparedness Week is to better educate people about the hazards of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, and to help everyone be prepared when severe weather occurs.
