Inclusive Emergency Preparedness<\/h1>\n\t\t

Bad things happen to good people.\u00a0 At some point, we will all experience a natural or man-caused disaster, or go through personal issues that can seriously disrupt our family’s lives just like any other disaster.\u00a0 While being prepared is vital for everyone, the 61+ million American adults with disabilities face additional challenges preparing for, responding to, and recovering from these events.<\/p>\n

A team of Purdue Extension Educators and Indiana PREPared just released “Inclusive Emergency Preparedness”<\/em><\/strong>, a teaching resource designed to assist all families in preparing for disaster or emergency situations, with an emphasis on ensuring safety for those with disabilities.<\/p>\n

These materials are designed for Extension Educators, teachers, and volunteers to teach a 1-hour lesson.\u00a0 The resources include a slide set with full instructor notes, a handout summary sheet, a Go-Bag prepping checklist, and a fillable PDF template for developing a family emergency plan.\u00a0 While designed as a teaching module, anyone can use the resources to help your family prepare for emergencies and disasters.<\/p>\n
