Sustaining Community Support with the Farm at Prophetstown

    Semester- to year-long project to develop an invasive plant management plan for a WREC-owned parcel of land and implement the plan via habitat improvements. Other opportunities include converting areas of turf grass to pocket prairies/savannas. Project timeline dependent on weather conditions, size of land parcel, and invasive species managed.     Increasing Volunteer Engagement with the Salvation Army of Lafayette

    Purdue Projects

      Spring course (16 weeks) for upper-level undergraduate students in the Professional and Technical Writing major seeking local companies, businesses, and not-for-profits interested in hosting and mentoring Professional Writing interns. Interns complete a variety of writing and communication tasks (e.g., developing marketing materials, producing training manuals, writing press releases, researching and writing grant applications, composing and managing social media).       ENGL 488: Internship in Professional Writing

        Fall and spring course (16 weeks) for upper-level undergraduates in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Certificate Program. The course is focused on consulting projects with a small business or non-profit (2-250 employees with at least two years of operations). Student teams use a three-stage consulting model to guide contracting, data gathering, and creating value for the client.         ENTR 481: Consulting For Emerging Enterprises

          Year-round course (fall/spring, 16 weeks; summer, 8 weeks) for undergraduates across levels and majors (e.g., business management, marketing and communication, user-experience design). Students use professional writing theories and approaches to analyze and solve industry problems through the creation of public relations campaigns.           ENGL 420: Business Writing

            Virtual summer course (8 weeks) for graduate students focused on composing grant proposals for nonprofit organizations in collaboration with the organization’s leadership that can be submitted for funding opportunities. Partners must have legal nonprofit status and a project suitable for a written grant proposal. Interested community partners should contact Lindsey Payne, paynel@purdue.edu.
