Faculty and Graduate Student Development

Purdue University strives to provide ongoing development opportunities for both faculty and graduate students.

The Office of Engagement offers annual workshops focused on scholarship, program development, evaluation, and drafting promotion dossiers.

The purpose of the Scholarship of Engagement Fellows Program is to foster the development of the scholarship of engagement for faculty throughout the Purdue system in support of the promotion and/or tenure process.

The purpose of the Service Learning Fellows program is to foster the development of service-learning academic courses and curricula, projects and scholarly pursuits by Purdue faculty

The purpose of the Engagement and Service Learning Summit is to bring together faculty, students, staff, and community partners to discuss best practices in engagement and service learning; highlight accomplishments; and increase collaboration opportunities.

The annual two-hour workshop covers a brief history of the scholarship of engagement, introduction to tools essential to the development of engagement programming, recommendations for measuring the impact of engagement, and opportunities for engagement in academia.

The program was developed based on feedback received following a presentation on the Scholarship of Engagement made for the same audience interested in faculty positions.

The workshop is free each spring, although preregistration is required as lunch will be provided.
