RE:        New Dean for the College of Education

Date:     May 16, 2018

I am pleased to inform you that Nancy E. Marchand-Martella, chair of the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Oklahoma, has accepted our offer and will begin her appointment as our dean of the College Education on July 16.

Nancy brings an impressive record of academic leadership to her new position, with more than 30 years of experience working with at-risk populations and more than 190 professional publications credited to her name.  Nancy began her professional career in 1991 as a faculty member in the Department of Special Education at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.  Since then she has held faculty appointments at Drake University, University of Montana and Eastern Washington University, where she was graduate program director.

I want to thank the members of the search advisory committee, chaired by Christine Ladisch, dean, College of Health and Human Sciences, for the outstanding job they did conducting the national search for this important position.  I also want to thank Maryann Santos, who has served as dean for the College of Education since July 2009.  We will always be grateful for her leadership, her commitment to STEM education and diversity and inclusion, and the lasting impact she has made on the faculty, staff and students of the college.

Please join me in thanking Dean Santos, Dean Ladisch and the entire search advisory committee. I know you also will join me in welcoming Dean Nancy E. Marchand-Martella
to the Boilermaker family.
