Re:  Appointment of Vice President for Marketing

I am pleased to announce the appointment, effective Nov. 19, of R. Ethan Braden as the new Vice President for Marketing, reporting to me and overseeing Purdue’s strategic marketing enterprise.

Ethan has had a very successful career designing and executing brand strategies in complex environments and noisy markets, with experiences that are directly relatable to the particular complexities and challenges of university marketing. At Purdue, he will be responsible for all central marketing strategies, advertising, digital marketing, licensing, creative services and marketing operations.

Ethan comes to Purdue from KSM Consulting (a part of the Katz, Sapper, & Miller network of companies), where he served as Federal Practice Director, spearheading the management consulting firm’s entry into the Federal market after operating largely within the state of Indiana. Ethan led Federal marketing and business development, strategically positioning the firm within this new, complex marketplace and helping Federal agencies find smart solutions through advanced data analytics and technology.

Prior to joining KSM Consulting, Ethan spent 10 years at Eli Lilly & Company, where he served in a variety of senior marketing and sales leadership roles in the US and throughout the Emerging Markets, managing some of Lilly’s and the pharmaceutical industry’s largest, life-changing brands. Ethan and teammates successfully built the professional marketing strategy, gained approval and launched two, first-ever FDA indications in chronic pain and Diabetes, respectively. Abroad, Ethan successfully advised commercialization and marketing efforts to grow Lilly’s Neuroscience portfolio of brands in more than 70 Emerging Market countries.

Ethan earned his MBA in Marketing and Management from the University of Notre Dame and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Spanish from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.

I am confident Ethan will be an excellent match and a strong asset to Purdue’s entire university system. I hope you all will join me in welcoming him to our community. Ethan’s office will be in the Vistech building with the Purdue Marketing team. He can be contacted by calling 765-494-6801.
