RE:          New Vice Provost for Enrollment Management

Date:       May 19, 2017

I am pleased to inform you that Kristina Wong Davis from University of California San Diego has been chosen as the next vice provost for Enrollment Management at Purdue, effective July 1. Kristina is currently the director of admissions at UC San Diego, where she provides leadership and oversight to all areas of undergraduate admissions. Prior to that, she was director of outreach and recruitment for The Ohio State University. Kristina has a solid track record of success with public and land-grant institutions where she has consistently exceeded strategic and diversity enrollment goals.

The vice provost for Enrollment Management oversees recruitment and selection of a qualified and diverse student body; reporting of timely, accurate, and relevant data for student recruitment, enrollment, and retention; and delivery of financial aid and financial aid services to students and their families. The office is also responsible for academic scheduling and course registration, educational records, graduation verification, veteran affairs, and information services.

Kristina will succeed Pam Horne, who announced her retirement effective June 30, 2017, after leading Enrollment Management at Purdue since August 2006. Under Pam’s guidance, undergraduate applications have increased more than 100 percent. She has created new scholarships to help meet or exceed Purdue’s enrollment goals with initiatives such as Purdue Promise serving low-income Twenty-first Century Scholars, the Marquis program serving middle-income Indiana residents, and the Trustee, Presidential and Emerging Leader merit scholarships.

I want to thank the search advisory committee, chaired by Frank Dooley, vice provost for teaching and learning, for an outstanding job conducting a national search for this critical position. We were looking for someone to enhance the solid foundation already built in Enrollment Management — someone both creative and collaborative – and Kristina Wong Davis is an excellent choice.

I know you will help Kristina feel welcome when she becomes a Boilermaker in July. Please also join me in thanking Pam for her excellent service to our institution.
