Re:       2017 State Street Redevelopment Project construction closures begin in April

Since the time of my December message regarding preliminary vehicular traffic plans for the State Street Redevelopment Project, my team and I have been collaborating with our partners in the City of West Lafayette and area public safety officials to finalize and share details of 2017 construction and travel impacts. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting with many of you to describe the activities that will take place over the course of the coming months and appreciate your thoughtful questions and enthusiasm for this transformative project.

As April begins, we will enter a particularly active phase of construction that will close a portion of State Street and significantly affect surrounding thoroughfares in West Lafayette. Please continue to visit the State Street Redevelopment Project website at statestreetwl.com for the latest information about construction progress, impacts and outcomes and to sign up for Nixle alerts. Two new planning and navigational tools, an updated vehicular traffic planand an interactive construction map that features information about campus, State Street and other local construction, have been added to the website, and we encourage frequent review of these online resources throughout the project. As it may be most convenient for campus visitors and those familiar with the Purdue University website, the interactive construction map is also available as part of the University’s existing campus map. Simply select “Campus Map” on the Purdue homepage, and then click “Construction Map” to navigate to this helpful information.

In addition to these online informational resources, we have also created a toolkit of promotional materials to assist you in notifying your area’s contacts of State Street Redevelopment Project construction and travel impacts. If you are interested in securing the toolkit for your department’s use please contact the Physical Facilities Communications team at (765) 496-0578.

We are also hosting two informational sessions tomorrow (March 23) during which we will provide an overview of the project goals, vehicular traffic plan and informational resources and be available to answer questions. The first session will take place at noon in Stewart Center room 206, and the second session will be held in the West Lafayette Public Library’s Elm and Walnut rooms at 5:30 p.m. Please consider joining us for one of these sessions.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during the construction that lies ahead. Please don’t hesitate to contact my team and me as associated needs and questions arise. Thank you for your continued support of this important project that will allow us to realize our shared vision of a vibrant, transformed State Street.
