I am writing to inform you that Pam Horne, Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, will retire from Purdue University effective June 30, 2017; she has served as Dean of Admissions and led the Office of Enrollment Management with distinction since August 2006.  Next year marks Pam’s 43rd year in higher education, having previously served five other institutions.

Pam’s leadership has led to the increasing of Purdue’s undergraduate applications by over 100% during her tenure and EM has met or exceeded campus enrollment goals each year including targeted residency mix and increasing diversity.  Retention and graduation rates have also steadily risen during her tenure.  She has created new scholarship programs to meet Purdue’s mission and enrollment goals with programs such as Purdue Promise serving low-income Twenty-first Century Scholars, Marquis serving middle-income Indiana residents, and Trustee, Presidential and Emerging Leader merit scholarships.  Pam also served as the process owner providing leadership for the on-time, under-budget implementation of Banner and related student systems, along with numerous continued improvements and enhancements since 2008.

Pam’s contributions extend well beyond Purdue.  She has served the state with her membership on the Advanced Placement Advisory Committee of the Board of Education and the High School Diploma Task Force.  She has served the profession through dozens of state, regional and national conference presentations, as a Trustee on the College Board and numerous College Board committees and advisory groups, is a founding member of the AAU Chief Enrollment Officers and served as President of the Chief Admission Officers of Public Universities.  Pam’s leadership and service to Purdue and to higher education are greatly appreciated.

Soon I will announce plans to launch a national search for filling the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management position.  Please join me in thanking Pam for all of her contributions to the Office of Enrollment Management and Purdue.  I am very pleased that she will be with us the rest of the fiscal year to provide leadership for another year that continues Purdue’s trajectory of enrollment success.
