Re:              FLSA Changes Blocked by Federal Injunction

A temporary injunction was granted November 22 in a federal court lawsuit filed by 21 states and more than 55 business groups.  The injunction effectively blocks the implementation of changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which were to become effective December 1, 2016. As you may recall, the changes would have more than doubled the minimum salary requirements for an employee to be considered exempt.

University leadership are aware of this ruling and will assess the situation thoroughly.

Please look for communication on next steps and follow up to happen early next week.

Any questions can be directed to Darrel Castricone, director, Compensation.
