Re:           FLSA Changes and Communication

In preparation for the major changes expected to the Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime exemption rules in 2016, Human Resources has created a general communication and frequently asked questionsto share with the University community.

Due to the uncertainty regarding the timing of the Department of Labor’s (DOL) final regulations – currently expected in May or June 2016 – we plan to begin communicating with employees soon, beginning with a Purdue Today article and posting these documents on the Human Resources Compensation website.

Some of the necessary next steps cannot be fully determined without a final DOL ruling. However, we are working diligently to understand and prepare for the proposed changes and their impact on the University. As we learn more and decisions are made, we will keep you closely informed.

If you have questions about this information, please contact me, Human Resources Compensation at hr@purdue.edu, or your regional campus human resources department.
