Re:           FLSA Assessment Materials Distributed


The Department of Labor (DOL) rule updating the Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime requirements goes into effect December 1, 2016. Since the announcement was made, we have worked diligently to prepare FLSA assessment materials to assist areas in addressing the changes. These materials have now been distributed to Directors of Financial Affairs.

The materials include impact reports (run on July 29), a compression assessment tool, a decision support flow chart and a high-level timeline.

Human Resources will continue to partner with colleges and units to identify any additional positions that may qualify under a special exemption, such as teaching or academic administrative employees. Updated reporting will be distributed in early September.
