Re: Space Planning and Management Announcement
I am writing to provide advance notice of an upcoming organizational transition that will be effective March 1 and officially announced to the campus community on Monday.
Space planning and management functions and associated staff are joining the Physical Facilities organization. Consistent with our responsibility for the University’s facilities, lands, and infrastructure, space administration activities are a critical component of effective campus asset management. This organizational transition will provide opportunities for operational alignment which will yield enhanced space utilization and customer service.
I am pleased to welcome Assistant Director for Space Planning Susan Hutson and Assistant Director for Space Management Kim Rechkemmer to the Physical Facilities organization. Please continue to contact Susan and Kim to address space planning and management needs. We are beginning a search for a Director of Space Management and in the interim, Susan and Kim will report to Physical Facilities Director of Engineering Brad Bowen.
Related academic data collection and analysis activities will continue to be addressed by the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment and Effectiveness which reports to Chief Data Officer Brent Drake. University Registrar Frank Blalark will maintain responsibility for academic and classroom scheduling.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if questions arise or additional information is needed as this transition progresses.
