Dear Recommender,

As a national honor society for senior students, Mortar Board was created with three objectives:

To recognize and encourage leadership and scholastic service

Purdue University’s Barbara Cook Chapter of Mortar Board is consistently recognized as one of the strongest chapters in the nation.  Members are selected by confidential recommendations and not by individual petitions or interviews.  You, the recommender, are invaluable in our annual selection process.

Both men and women are eligible for membership.  Membership requirements include superior scholarship (generally a graduate index of at least 3.2), leadership, and service to the University or community.  While there is no limit on the number of juniors you may recommend, please keep in mind Mortar Board is an honor society for the University’s top students.  In addition, when nominating students for this honor please take into consideration Mortar Board’s continued goal of reflecting the diversity of our campus and community in its membership.  Please include comments on the quality of each nominee’s service and scholarship along with a list of activities, if available.  Information concerning character, initiative, and scholastic achievements is helpful.  Students currently off-campus due to co-op or study abroad engagements are also eligible.

Please keep in mind the highly secretive nature of the selection process used by the Barbara Cook Chapter of Mortar Board.  We would appreciate your help in keeping all nominations completely confidential.  It is of the utmost importance that nominations be kept secret from the nominees themselves.

Please complete the online form no later than Monday, February 16th, 2015 at 5 p.m.
