Paul Griffin

Director of the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering (RCHE), Professor of Industrial Engineering

Paul Griffin's appointment as director of RCHE became effective on January 1, 2017. He joins Purdue after serving as the Virginia C. and Joseph C. Mello chair and professor in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. Paul is also a professor of Industrial Engineering and has interests in health systems engineering, health analytics, and cost effectiveness modeling. He served six years as the Peter and Angela Dal Pezzo Head of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State.

Maralee Hayworth

Center Operations Manager

Maralee Hayworth joined RCHE in August 2018. She has been with Purdue for 3 years serving in business related roles under Discovery Park and the Executive Vice President for Research. Prior to joining Purdue, Maralee worked in the insurance industry for 15 years. Maralee is highly focused on customer service, engaging the center in and outside the university, and managing the day to day operations to meet the needs of the center and donor requirements. She holds a BS in Organizational Leadership & Supervision and a MBA, both from Purdue.

Randy Hountz

Director, Purdue Healthcare Advisors

Randy Hountz is the director of Purdue Healthcare Advisors (PHA). As such, he directs three consulting and training service lines (Process Improvement, Quality Reporting, and Health IT Security) and serves as the Indiana Director for the Great Lakes Practice Transformation Network (GLPTN), a 32-partner consortium dedicated to guiding 11,500 Midwest-based providers toward value-based care. Randy earned his MS in management and BS in mechanical engineering, both from Purdue.

Kit Klutzke

Programmer Analyst

Kit Klutzke has over 20 years of professional information technology experience. He joined the center in 2014, after serving eight years as data administrator to the Registrar’s Office and previously as a systems analyst for Caterpillar, Inc. Kit strives to deliver quality IT solutions to the center and its constituents. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology from Purdue University.

Sara Mellady

Administrative Assistant

Sara Mellady joined RCHE and Purdue in February 2019. Prior to joining Purdue, Sara worked in the insurance industry for 10+ years. Sara's extensive experience in customer service along with her planning and leadership skills are key assets to executing the administrative tasks within RCHE. Sara holds a B.S. in Business Management with a minor in Human Resources from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Scott Starkey

Programmer Analyst

Scott Starkey joined RCHE in December 2018, but has worked for Purdue University since 1998. Over the course of his career at Purdue, he worked as a Contract Analyst for the University, reviewing, negotiating, and signing contracts, specializing in Information Technology agreements. Prior to that, he maintained the computer systems for Purdue's Department of Athletics. Scott holds bachelor's degrees in Computer Technology and Creative Writing, both from Purdue. In his spare time, he is also a professional magician.

Yuehwern Yih

Academic Director LASER PULSE, Associate Director of the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering (RCHE)

Yuehwern Yih was appointed the associate director of RCHE in May 2016 and academic director of LASER PULSE in August 2018. Her major responsibilities include faculty engagement, strategic research initiatives, and programs coordination. She is a professor of Industrial Engineering and her expertise resides in system and process design, modeling, monitoring, and decision making to improve quality and performance. Dr. Yih provides strong leadership in infusing system engineering in healthcare services. She is an NEC Faculty Fellow, IIE Fellow, and ELATE Fellow.

Rich Zink

Managing Director, REMEDI Operations

Rich Zink is responsible for developing evidence-based decision support tools and providing collaboration opportunities for communities of healthcare providers, researchers, and vendors working together to improve patient safety and quality. He has experience in numerous industries and has held roles in engineering, project management, and information technology. He received undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Minnesota.
