Control and Intervention
The Control and Intervention Program Area is critical not only to understanding mechanisms by which infection, disease, inflammation can occur, but also to further defend against those mechanisms. The advances of the 20th century were momentous and noteworthy in terms of understanding immunology, inflammation, and infectious diseases, but without intervention and control of the processes, the impact of basic research is limited.
